"You don’t need a referral. You don’t need a diagnosis. You don’t need to wait for someone else’s approval to take care of yourself. You need care — today — from a clinician who’s good at this. That’s what we do."

Amy-Erin Blakely — Founder & CEO, Virtually CALM
Why people choose us

Specialty depth. Direct-to-you delivery.

Most online therapy platforms are built for volume — rotating providers, generic intake, sessions that feel like a subscription service. We’re built for clinical depth, with the convenience benefits of virtual care preserved.

Same-day, every weekday

Most clients are seen the same day they schedule. The longest wait you’ll face is choosing a time that fits your schedule.

Same provider over time

You choose your therapist or psychiatrist and stay with them. No rotating cast. No starting over every six weeks. Continuity is part of how care actually works.

HIPAA-secure, end to end

Sessions, messages, scheduling, and records are protected by federal HIPAA standards via Paubox. What you share stays between you and your provider.

Why people start

You don’t need a crisis. You just need a reason.

There’s no minimum threshold of suffering required to deserve care. The most common reasons people start with us aren’t emergencies — they’re moments of clarity that something could be different.

“I’ve been carrying this for a long time and I’m tired.”

Persistent anxiety, low mood, or stress that’s become background noise — until it isn’t. Ongoing therapy with a licensed clinician helps you build the tools to put it down.

“Something specific happened, and I’m not okay.”

A loss, a transition, a relationship ending, a medical scare, a moment that changed how you see things. Time-limited focused therapy meets you where the disruption is.

“I think I need medication, but I want to do it right.”

A psychiatric evaluation tells you what’s clinically going on and what evidence-based treatments — including but not limited to medication — would actually help. Direct-access psychiatry, no referral.

How payment works

Transparent, flexible, no surprises.

Self-pay doesn’t mean expensive-pay. We offer multiple ways to make care affordable — including pre-tax payment options most people don’t realize they have.

Four ways to pay for your care

Your specific session fee is confirmed at scheduling so you know exactly what you’re paying before your first appointment.

Credit or debit card

Standard self-pay. Card on file, charged after each session. Receipts emailed automatically.

HSA / FSA

Therapy and psychiatric care are qualified medical expenses under IRS Publication 502. Pay pre-tax with your HSA or FSA card.

Out-of-network reimbursement

Pay out of pocket; we provide a superbill (itemized receipt). You submit to insurance for reimbursement based on your plan’s out-of-network benefits.

Direct contracts

For employer EAP-style arrangements, we work with direct contracts. Contact our team if your employer is exploring a behavioral health partnership.

One thing we don’t do: we don’t advertise specific session prices on this page because pricing varies by service type (therapy, psychiatric evaluation, ongoing medication management) and provider credential level. Our intake team confirms your specific session fee at scheduling so there are no surprises — and so you can decide whether self-pay or insurance reimbursement is the better path for your situation.
What care looks like

Two paths. One starting point.

Most clients begin with one and add the other if it makes sense. You don’t have to figure that out before you schedule — our intake team helps you start in the right place.

Therapy & counseling

Talk-based care with a licensed therapist (LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT). Evidence-based modalities including CBT, DBT, ACT, trauma-focused therapy, and more — matched to what you’re working on.

  • Individual therapy — one-on-one, weekly or bi-weekly
  • Couples and family therapy available
  • Group therapy for shared experience
  • Bilingual care in English and Spanish
  • Same provider every session — no rotating cast

Psychiatry & medication

Direct-access psychiatric evaluation and ongoing medication management with psychiatrists and psychiatric APRNs. No primary-care referral required. Coordinated with your therapist if you have one.

  • Initial psychiatric evaluation with diagnosis
  • Ongoing medication management — virtual visits
  • Adult ADHD evaluation and treatment
  • Treatment-resistant cases handled with specialty depth
  • Same-day evaluations available every weekday
The team behind the screen

The same clinicians who handle complex trauma cases handle your everyday care.

Virtually CALM was built around specialty behavioral health for people navigating injury and recovery — the kinds of cases that demand serious clinical credibility. That foundation is what makes our team unusually well-equipped for the everyday mental health care most platforms promise but few deliver.

You get the same psychiatrists, the same neuropsychologists, the same trauma-informed therapists — the same depth of expertise. The difference is that for self-pay clients, the legal and forensic apparatus simply isn’t part of your care. You get the clinical excellence without the clinical-legal context.

Conditions we treat

The full spectrum.

From the everyday to the complex — we treat clients with or without a formal diagnosis. If something here matches what you’re carrying, that’s reason enough to schedule.

Common questions

What self-pay clients ask first.

Direct answers. Don’t see your question? Call (407) 550-7755 or email info@virtuallycalmus.com.

Do I need insurance to schedule?
No. You can schedule and start care without using insurance. We accept private pay (credit/debit, HSA, and FSA), and we can also work with out-of-network insurance reimbursement where applicable. Our intake team will walk you through your options before your first session.
Do I need a referral from a doctor?
No referral required. You schedule directly through our online patient portal. Most clients are seen the same day they schedule. The American Psychological Association recognizes telehealth as a clinically valid modality for the conditions we treat.
Can I use my HSA or FSA to pay?
Yes. Therapy and psychiatric care are qualified medical expenses under IRS rules (see IRS Publication 502). You can pay with your HSA or FSA card directly, or pay out of pocket and submit for reimbursement. We provide receipts with the documentation needed.
How does pricing work for self-pay clients?
Pricing varies by service type — therapy session, psychiatric evaluation, ongoing medication management — and is shared transparently before you schedule. Our intake team confirms your specific session fee at scheduling so there are no surprises. We don’t advertise rates publicly because pricing varies by provider credential level and service, but you’ll always know what you’re paying before you book your first session.
Will my insurance reimburse me if I pay out of pocket?
Often yes — many insurance plans offer out-of-network reimbursement for behavioral health services. We provide a superbill (itemized receipt) with the diagnosis and procedure codes your insurer needs. You submit it directly to your insurance company. Reimbursement varies by plan, so it’s worth calling your insurer’s member services line to ask about your specific out-of-network mental health benefits before scheduling. Information from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services outlines federal mental health parity rules that may apply.
Do you treat the same things general telehealth platforms treat?
Yes — and more. We treat the full range of behavioral health concerns: anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, postpartum mood changes, life transitions, grief, and relationship challenges. Our specialty depth in trauma and complex cases means our clinical team is unusually well-equipped for everyday mental health care too. The National Institute of Mental Health publishes information on the conditions we most commonly treat.
